Introduction

What is a decision aid?

What is a decision aid?

A decision aid is a tool to help you be more involved in decisions about your treatment and services. It provides information so you can understand and compare your options, and think about what is most important to you. It could help you feel more prepared to talk to your provider.

Decision aids are available for many health-related issues such as depression, cancer, and diabetes.

This decision aid does not:

  • Replace or substitute for professional advice. Talk to your doctor about your options and preferences.
  • Have all the answers.  It is a place to start.
  • Tell you what to do. No approach is right for everyone.
